An Open MI Door & Solitary Justice Project Initiative
The Solitary Justice Project is a healing‑centered community where survivors of solitary confinement and their loved ones come together to find mutual support, build collective power, and transform systems through lived experience–driven advocacy. Rooted in dignity and truth, the project uplifts the voices of people who have endured isolation firsthand, ensuring their stories guide the path toward meaningful change.
In partnership with Open MI Door, Nation Outside, Center for Transformation, Citizens for Prison Reform, and the Presbyterian Committee on the Self‑Development of People, this exhibition brings a powerful visual and emotional narrative to Kalamazoo — one that reveals what isolation truly does to a person and why their voices must remain at the center of reform efforts.
This isn’t just an exhibit about solitary confinement.
It is an invitation to witness, to listen, and to learn from the people who actually lived it
