FPP General Monthly Meeting

Building Bridges through Storytelling

with State Representative Laurie Pohutsky

Wednesday, May 20 | 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Join us for a special Family Participation Program virtual meeting featuring State Representative Laurie Pohutsky.

Representative Pohutsky serves in the Michigan House and has been actively engaged in raising awareness about conditions within Michigan prisons, including her recent involvement in the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility hearing. She will be joining us to share practical guidance on how families impacted by incarceration can build meaningful connections with their legislators and make their voices heard.

Laurie Pohutsky

This session is open to all families, whether you are preparing for our 15th Annual Legislative Education Day or looking for ways to build bridges with elected officials at any time. We’ll focus on real, actionable strategies like how to request meetings, attend local coffee hours, and share your story in a way that creates understanding, connection, and impact.

This is about building bridges between families and lawmakers — making sure your lived experiences are heard, understood, and carried into the decisions that affect your lives.

Your voice builds bridges — and those bridges lead to change.
